A teenager has been arrested five days after a terrifying video emerged of a cyclist attacking a car with a huge knife in south London.

The 17-year-old was detained in a residential street in Croydon on Monday afternoon following an extensive investigation.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, affray, criminal damage, and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was taken to a south London police station where he remained in custody on Monday night.

A Met Police spokesman said: “The driver of the car had been approached by a man in possession of a large knife who had smashed his window.

“In an attempt to escape, the victim, a 19-year-old man, collided with another vehicle. He then exited his vehicle on foot and was followed by the suspect. There were no injuries.

“The victim returned to his vehicle later after the suspect made off.”
