A man has been charged with attempted murder after a teenager was shot in the head in north London.

The 18-year-old was left critically ill in hospital after he was shot near his home in Turnpike Lane on Tuesday afternoon.

London's Air Ambulance landed in the middle of the junction with Wightman Road after the teenager's mother called emergency services to the scene.

Today, Denizen Karadag, of Boyton Road, Hornsey, was charged with attempted murder.

The 20-year-old is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A second man, aged 20, was also arrested in Barking today on suspicion of the same offence.

He is currently in custody at a north London police station.
