Two men have been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed while heading to his mother's house for Christmas lunch.

Police said the 25-year-old was repeatedly stabbed in the mob attack on Christmas day.

The man was on the Lettsom Estate, Camberwell on his way to visit his mother.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to a south London hospital.

He has since been discharged.

Detective Constable Ben Page of Southwark CID said: "This was a brutal and sustained attack that took place in broad daylight, and on a day when families should be enjoying Christmas together.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information which could help this investigation, to contact police."

Enquiries continue.

Anyone with information should contact Southwark CID on 020 7232 6188 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
