A dangerous criminal has been jailed for 10 years after an elderly man was attacked in his own home before his jewellery was stolen.
Shane Douglas, 38, of Rosaville Road, Fulham was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court today after he pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary in January.
In October last year, Douglas forced his way into a house in Fulham where a married couple, a 71-year-old man and 63-year-old woman, were at home.
While inside he demanded cash and jewellery from the woman before he was confronted by the man.
Douglas attempted to use a stun gun of him which failed but then punched and kicked the victim before throwing him to the floor.
He then stole a gold Rolex watch from his wrist, which has never been recovered and holds sentimental value.
The victim was treated at the scene for injuries and is now recovering at home.
Douglas was linked to the incident by fingerprints at the scene which led to his arrest and being charged.
DC Ben Kirkham from Hammersmith CID said: "Shane Douglas is a dangerous individual who did not hesitate to use violence on the elderly victims of this offence.
“I hope the sentence passed down today serves as some comfort to the victims of this serious crime who were left traumatised by the incident and will now be able to start moving on with their lives."
