Police are searching for a sex offender who claimed to be a terminally ill millionaire to attract women on dating websites before swindling them.

Christopher Matt, 29, met women online and claimed to be an extremely wealthy man who was dying from a brain tumour.

Police said he promised them vast sums of cash, saying he just wanted to help people before he died - but instead he defrauded them.

Officers have now released an appeal to track him down after he breached the conditions of his release from prison.

He was jailed for sexual assault and fraud in June 2014 before being released on licence in September last year.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Matt is known to target women on dating sites and gains their trust by claiming to be terminally ill with a brain tumour.

“Matt was known to have travelled extensively, visiting hotels and defrauding his victims in the North West, North East, Midlands and Merseyside areas of England.”

His last known address was in Camden, police said.

Anyone who knows where his is should call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously no 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
