This is the moment a shameless thief raids a child's pram while the mother has her back turned.

The man audaciously reaches into the back of the pushchair and rifles through the woman's belongings for about 20 seconds in an Argos store in east London.

His victim appears to be standing just inches away with her back turned, her attention fixed on one of the shop's digital terminals.

The man eventually finds what he was looking for - the woman's purse - and shiftily walks out of the shop in High Road, Leytonstone, at about 2.30pm on April 14.

The video was released by police in Waltham Forest today as they hunt for the man.

A spokesman said: "Can you help identify this theft suspect? He stole purse from a pushchair in Argos."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
