Whitechapel shooting: Man, 40, fighting for life after being shot in the head in east London

A 40-year-old man is in a critical condition after being shot in the head in east London.

Detectives are investigating the attempted murder after the victim was found with a head injury in Nelson Street, Whitechapel, shortly after 10.30pm on Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "The injury to the victim's head is strongly suspected to be the result of a bullet wound and his condition is described as critical."

His family have been told.
