Two girls and a woman are in hospital after being hit by a car in north London during rush hour this morning.

Police said the incident on High Road, Wood Green, happened shortly after 8.30am and left one of the children with a leg injury.

The others suffered minor injuries.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 8.37am today, Monday, 13 April, to reports of a car in collision with three people on Wood Green High Road.

"Officers and LAS attended and found a woman and two girls.

"One child sustained a leg injury and is in a stable condition. The other child and the woman sustained minor injuries.

"All three were taken to an east London hospital where they remain.

"The driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made."

At lunchtime the force said road closures remained in place.

The London Ambulance Service did not immediately comment on the collision.
