A woman is in a critical condition in hospital two days after a car she was travelling in smashed into five parked cars in Harrow.

The victim, who police said is aged in her 30s, was seriously injured when the Vauxhall Astra hit the cars in Eastcote Lane at about 8.20pm on Saturday.

The driver, a man aged in his 20s, was also injured but was today in a stable condition in hospital, Scotland Yard said.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly motorists who saw the accident but left before officers arrived, to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Pidgeon, who is leading the investigation, said: "I particularly need to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or the Corsa being driven prior to the incident.

"I know that a number of vehicles stopped at the scene but left prior to the arrival of police, and I do want to speak with those people."

Officers from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating.

Anyone with information can contact police on 02089919555.
