A woman was fighting for her life today after allegedly being pushed from a fourth-floor flat following an argument.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the 27-year-old woman plunged from the block in Orb Street, Walworth yesterday afternoon.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital by air ambulance and was today in a “life-threatening” condition, police said.
Neighbours said the woman had been drinking with a number of people at the flat and there was shouting before she fell.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “The woman got pushed from the window. They had been drinking… She has a twin sister — I’m not sure if she was there at the time.”
Another neighbour said: “There was loud shouting coming from the flat beforehand. It sounded like they were arguing.” Another resident said: “I heard shouting and the woman said ‘you are strangling me’. A man had forced his way into her flat and another was outside the block.”
Thomas Tabone, 62, who lives on the third floor, said: “I heard a terrible scream and looked out and there she was laying crumpled on the ground. There were children playing football right there, they must have seen everything, it would have been horrible.”
A Met police spokesman said officers were called at about 4.30pm.
