Comic Relief: Pyjamas just make me want to Shout, says Lulu

Singer Lulu today called on Londoners to help their communities and feel “cosy” while doing so by wearing their pyjamas to work on Red Nose Day.

The star, who had a 1964 hit with Shout, said it was our “duty” to help the deprived — and urged people to join the Dispossessed Fund’s Comic Relief campaign to be sponsored to wear nightwear all day on Friday.

Lulu, 64, who lives in west London, was joined by her Westie dog Clyde as she worked at her business partner’s home in pink sheep-print pyjamas with bracelets from her jewellery range and iPad in a matching pink case.

“This is all about supporting one’s own community,” she said. “It’s our duty to support other people where we can. Some of us are luckier than others.”

On her pyjamas, she added: “They’re cosy and remind me of my childhood. I’d like to go about in them all the time, although I probably look ridiculous.”

People are being encouraged to join Friday’s “pyjamarama” at work by signing up online and finding sponsors.

Singer Jason Donovan also joined the Standard campaign by asking Londoners to go to work in their night gear.
