Keep dreaming of a big career after coronavirus pandemic, students urged

The talks are aimed at students feeling anxious about their futures
PA

A careers service for young people has launched a series of motivational talks for students feeling anxious about their futures due to the pandemic.

An explorer, entrepreneur, Olympian and cricketer are among the inspirational speakers recruited to give online advice for the initiative, run by Springpod.

Founder Sam Hyams said the service, called Learn Lounge, was launched because of fears that the mental health of students is being affected by the pandemic, and their aspirations are being cut short.

Speakers have included polar explorer Ann Daniels, jetpack entrepreneur Richard Browning, two- time Olympian Anna Hemmings, cricketing legend Monty Panesar and Mark Warburton, manager of Queens Park Rangers. Employers such as Capgemini, Nestle, PWC and Pearson are also giving live advice.

Mr Hyams said: “We have daily inspiring careers stories from influential leaders.” He added a presenter moderated and students could ask questions.

The initiative is also raising money for The Children’s Trust for children with brain injuries.
