'Tremendous pain': Trevor Farquharson in hospital
Rob Parsons30 March 2012

A fitness instructor has told how he is unlikely ever to walk again after breaking his neck in a motorbike accident he cannot remember.

Father-of-two Trevor Farquharson is now trying to piece together what happened in the moments before the crash near Highgate Tube station and is appealing for information so he can claim compensation to pay for his medical care.

Mr Farquharson, 47, from Colindale, was heading home on his motorbike when he was struck by one or more vehicles. The force of the crash broke his neck and snapped his vertebrae in three places as well as leaving him with eight broken ribs and a broken left wrist.

The fitness instructor at University College London Union now has no sensation from the chest downwards. He is in hospital in Stanmore.

He said: “I am obviously distraught about what has happened. I’m still in tremendous pain and have no idea how my injuries will affect my life once I’m able to leave hospital.

“All I can think about right now is how my injuries might affect my relationships with my two sons. I am simply devastated.”

The crash took place on Highgate Hill at about 7.15pm on February 15, with Mr Farquharson driving an “extremely loud” black and red Honda CBR 400S.

His solicitor Joanna Bailey, a road traffic collisions expert at Fentons Solicitors LLP, said: “He has sustained multiple life-changing catastrophic injuries. We desperately need to piece together what happened.”

Anyone who saw the crash should call Miss Bailey on 020 7092 2808 or email joanna.bailey@fentons.co.uk
