Central Line reopens with delays after closure caused chaos for commuters

Delays: The Central Line is likely to shut later today
Robin de Peyer28 January 2014

Commuters were hit with travel chaos this morning as a signal failure is wreaked havoc on the Central Line.

Transport for London (TfL) said a failure at Mile End station caused problems along the entire line at rush hour.

The line was later closed between Leytonstone and Liverpool Street to allow engineers to fix the problem.

It has now reopened, but with severe delays, according to TfL.

Disgruntled commuters took to social medai to complain about the disruption.

One Twitter user wrote: "The official line might be 'severe delays on the central line' but the train I'm on hasn't moved for almost 30 minutes."
