A Crystal Palace fan has been reunited with a girl he fell in love with on a train after launching a Twitter appeal to find her.

Angus Mainland, 19, of Balham, met the mystery woman while travelling from Bournemouth to Southampton on Saturday to watch his team play.

The love-struck student sat next to the brunette during the journey and put his Crystal Palace scarf around her neck, before snapping a selfie of them together.

But he forgot to ask for her name and number, so sent a tweet to Cross Country Trains asking for help to find her.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en">Thank you to everyone who retweeted! You can call of the search, I've found her and am talking to her! She's taken it very well!— Angus Mainland (@Angus66Mainland) <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/Angus66Mainland/status/559790128118644736" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-108981-https://twitter.com/Angus66Mainland/status/559790128118644736" data-vars-event-id="c23">January 26, 2015</a>

The message quickly went viral, with more than 4,500 people spreading the message and yesterday evening he informed his followers his campaign to find love had been a success.

He tweeted: “Thank you to everyone who retweeted! You can call off the search, I’ve found her and am talking to her! She’s taken it very well!”

“Oh and I do have her name now. Didn’t cock it up twice after how stupid it made me look!”
