House-hunters are desperate to snap up property in Battersea to be close to Prince George’s new school, according to a leading estate agent.
Estate agents have reported a 60 per cent surge in people looking to buy a home in the area, with the royal prince set to start at Thomas’s school in September.
Estate agent Knight Frank has recorded the surge in interest for homes in the affluent part of London where homes sell for millions of pounds.
Last month, Kensington Palace announced that Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s first-born would be attending Thomas’s, which charges fees of £18,000 per year.
Kris Ericsson, sales manager of Knight Frank's Battersea office told Harper's Bazaar: "Since the announcement that Prince George is due to attend Thomas's school in Battersea from September, we have seen a resurgence in interest in the Battersea Park area amongst buyers."
"We have seen an increase of up to 60 per cent in enquiries for houses of £4m and above and quite a few have explicitly cited the added draw of the royal connection that the area will now enjoy."
The Duchess of Cambridge caused a stir when she visited the school last month, joking with parents about seeing them at the school gates.
George will be four years old when he starts at the private co-educational day school, which proudly states its most important rule is to "be kind".
Louise Livingston, director of training at the Maria Montessori Institute, told The Telegraph: "When it was announced, our phones were ringing off the hook with people asking whether we had space in our nurseries."
"With secondary school to come, plus Princess Charlotte's education to be announced, it's unlikely this royal knock-on effect is going to slow down anytime soon."
