A female cyclist is fighting for life after being hit by a lorry in west London.

The woman was rushed to hospital in a critical condition following the smash in Uxbridge Road, Ealing, shortly before 2pm on Thursday.

Harrowing images posted on social media showed emergency services at the scene and a blue bicycle mangled in the road.

A large police cordon was still in place hours after the incident.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested, Scotland Yard said.

Detectives from the Met’s serious collision investigation unit are investigating.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Alperton Traffic Garage witness line on 0208 991 9555 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
