A restaurant fire caused traffic chaos along the Edgware Road last night while 50 people were evacuated from their homes.

Five people fled the ground floor restaurant, understood to be Valentino, when ducting in the kitchen caught fire shortly after 5pm.

The London Fire Brigade evacuated 50 people from the flats above and another 10 left by themselves.

The road was closed at the junction with Sussex Gardens and was reopened just before 10pm.
