Extraordinary moment woman dumps contents of wheelie bin on neighbour’s drive

This is the extraordinary moment a woman tipped out the contents of her wheelie bin onto a neighbour’s drive after apparently missing collection day.

Stuart Garforth, 44, spoke out after catching the brazen act of fly-tipping on CCTV outside his house in a quiet residential street in Streatham.

The footage shows the blonde woman approach his driveway before overturning the full bin in view of a passing car, with the rubbish also spilling onto the pavement. Mr Garforth, who runs a financial communications firm, was forced to clean up the mess when he discovered it — an hour after the weekly bin collection had passed.

He said he did not recognise the woman from the CCTV and has been baffled as to her motive. He added: “There were all types of things — finished toilet rolls, water bottles, a pizza box. It was a fair amount of rubbish, and it was half on private land and half on the public highway. There wasn’t much regard from her to where she tipped it.

“She had the bin overturned. It wasn’t exactly under the cover of darkness. We have never had anything like this before. It’s a really nice area.

“What’s worse is the fact that she ditched it when the collection had just taken place, knowing the stuff would sit in the street for a full week.” His housemate, Faisal Aldaoudi, 38, who works in hospitality, posted the footage to Twitter in a bid to find the culprit.

“They don’t call me Miss Marple for nothing!” he wrote. “Caught on our CCTV — neighbour missed the rubbish collection so clearly decided we could have the lot in our driveway.”

He added: “I did it for the area, to find out who it was. It was disgusting.”

Councillor Claire Holland, Lambeth cabinet member for environment, said: “On the face of it, this is a blatant and shocking case of fly-tipping on the public highway. We have a zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping in Lambeth, which not only spoils our environment and really irritates residents, but also costs us a lot of money to clear up. We have contacted the person who posted the video so that we can investigate further with a view to taking robust action.”
