Fire breaks out at Wimbledon tournament practice courts

Fire crews are responding to a blaze at the All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon.

Four fire engines have been called to the club, home of the Wimbledon tournament which is due to run from July 3 to July 16 this year.

An image from the scene showed one of the hedges close to a practice court on fire next to heavy construction equipment.

Club officials said in a statement online: "The AELTC can confirm the London Fire Brigade has been attending a small fire outside Gate 1."

The fire was safely brought under control shortly after 1pm.
