Hampstead Heath Croquet Club’s plea for lawn

21 November 2012

Members of a croquet club are appealing for a new £40,000 lawn that they say will secure their club’s survival.

The Hampstead Heath Croquet Club shares a lawn with Parliament Hill Bowling Club but members are asking the City of London Corporation, which manages the heath, to lay a second lawn for them. They say improved facilities will allow them to attract world-class players and host home matches.

Club member Ian Harrison said: “To survive long-term we need our own lawn.”

The Corporation says there are no funds available.
