A woman suffered a head injury after being hit by a car in south-west London.

The woman, a pedestrian thought to be in her mid-50s, was taken to hospital after the crash in Kingston just before 2pm.

The Metropolitan Police initially said the collision involved a bus and the woman had been seriously hurt.

In a later update, a spokesman said the vehicle was a car and fortunately the woman's head injury was no longer believed to be serious.
