London Fire Brigade

A woman was treated by paramedics after a huge blaze ripped through a neighbour’s gardens in East Ham on Saturday.

Around 70 firefighters were called to the flat fire on Caledon Road at 1.30pm on Saturday.

They found the ground floor of a terraced house alight with the flames spreading through sheds and fences in the gardens.

One woman was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

Station Commander Keith Sanders, who was at the scene, said: “The fire affected a number of gardens and the back of some of the adjoining properties.

“Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further.

“There was heavy traffic in the area and we advised motorists to avoid the area where possible.”

LFB added the fire was under control by 3.36pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
