London is braced for more freezing temperatures as the icy blast continues to grip the UK.

After a dusting of snow over the weekend, clear skies and dry weather will ensure the cold snap continues in the coming days.

Temperatures are expected to remain just above the freezing mark in London during today, with the mercury due to plummet to -3C overnight.

The Met Office said it would be “staying cold and dry overnight with winds remaining light, and long clear spells developing, leading to a widespread frost forming”.

Its forecast added that Tuesday would be a “cold, clear and sunny day with little cloud and light winds”, with chilly temperatures due to remain on Wednesday.

But forecasters said the weather would be turning milder towards the end of the week as rain sweeps in from the south-west.

It follows a white winter weekend which saw large swathes of the country covered in snow.

Images from around the UK showed snowmen being built and sledges being manned as people made the most of the weather.
