'Tokyo Drift': The Mercedes driver was filmed on Saturday morning

This is the alarming moment a Mercedes driver performed a 'Tokyo drift' stunt just feet away from a group of cyclists.

The clip shows the car pulling out into a road in south east London before 'drifting' perilously close to three bicycles.

The skid, reminiscent of something out of the Fast and Furious film franchise, has been described as "absolutely irresponsible".

YouTube user Spincam, a fellow cyclist who uploaded the footage, said that the driver even gave a “thumbs up” at the end as he drove past him.

He wrote: “Absolutely irresponsible behaviour around a bunch of other road users which he could have quite easily hit in the process.

“He gave a thumbs up at the end as he went past.”

Spincam told the Standard: "I was waiting with my group for others to catch up when the driver of the Mercedes appeared waiting to turn into our road.

"Suddenly mid-conversation we heard a screech and looked to see the Mercedes sliding into the road.

"I am confident it was an intended manouevre to show off or scare the other cyclists.

"The driver was smiling and had a thumb up as he came past myself at the end."

The incident happened shortly after 8.30pm in the Biggin Hill area of south east London, as the car turned from Sheepbarn Lane into Layham’s Road.

The 30-second video was uploaded to YouTube on Sunday and has been viewed more than 2,000 times.
