PLANNERS have given permission for a mixed residential development including 63 affordable homes at Palace Street, in central Victoria.

Under the proposals approved by Westminster City Council, the affordable homes will be built for the scheme which will provide a 60:40 split of social rent and intermediate homes for rent and sale.

The development between the junction of Palace Street and Castle Lane would involve extending the existing buildings, creating balconies and a children’s play area by the owners of the land, LS Victoria Properties Ltd. Sanctuary housing association will manage the homes.

Permission was granted on condition of a payment of £315,510 towards local education as well as a financial contribution of £63,000 to monitor changes in on street parking.

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Councillor Alastair Moss said: “I am very pleased that this development will help achieve our commitment to provide much needed affordable housing for Westminster.”
