Nice to see you back on your feet, Ma’am. Queen the picture of health at Baker Street

The Queen showed she was fully recovered from her recent illness today when she joined the Duchess of Cambridge to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Tube.

Flanked by the Duke of Edinburgh and the pregnant Kate, she looked the picture of health as she arrived at Baker Street Tube station.

Her Majesty, who had been disappointed that her illness had forced her to miss a number of royal engagements, had been determined to get back on duty.

She was struck down by the symptoms of gastroenteritis that led to her first overnight hospital stay for more than a decade, only making a brief public appearance to sign the Commonwealth Charter. But the Queen was never going to let a bout of ill health derail her for long and today it was business as usual as she flashed her familiar smile, clearly delighted to be back.

The royal party was greeted at Baker Street by the Commissioner of Transport for London, Sir Peter Hendy, the Managing Director of London Underground Mike Brown and the Chief Operating Officer, Howard Collins. They then went to the ticket hall to meet station staff before moving downstairs to the platform to chat to maintenance and train workers.
