Olympic diving finals – penguin style

Penguins traditionally throw themselves into water at the drop of a hat, but this little fellow wasn’t so sure about trying out the new diving board at London Zoo today.

After initially peering down off the end of the board, he flung himself in, closely followed by a rogue heron joining in the fun.

The birds were performing at the Penguin Beach as part of Locog granting the zoo the 2012 logo for the summer’s Animal Athletes programme.

However, despite most of the penguins entering into the spirit of things, it was all too much for one, pictured right, who decided it wasn’t for him after all.
