A pensioner and a young man have been killed in a collision between a moped and a pedestrian in Southall.

The incident happened at about 3.20pm on Saturday, when the moped hit the elderly woman in Featherstone Road.

Police and London Ambulance Service raced to the scene and found both the woman, who was in her seventies, and the rider of the moped, a man in his twenties, suffering from critical injuries.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson said next of kin have been informed, and detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.

The spokesperson said: "Officers identified a number of witnesses at the scene and are satisfied that no other vehicle or person was involved in the collision. An inquest and post-mortem examination will be held in due course."
