Pig's blood and octopus tentacles on the menu at new Chelsea bar

Slaughter: pig's blood is a key ingredient in the controversial cocktail

A new Chelsea bar is serving a gruesome cocktail with pig’s blood as a key ingredient - aptly named ‘Slaughter’.

Squid ink and baby octopus tentacles are some other unusual additions to drinks on offer at No 9 Park Walk, in Park Walk, Chelsea.

Slaughter, which costs £16, is made up of blood orange, cherry liqueur, crème de caco, black coffee, scotch and pig’s blood.

A grisly video promoting the drink features a woman slicing into a butchered pigs head for blood to make the drink.

Cotton Candy: guests may be more inclined to try this drink made with Malibu and candy floss

Bar manager Caolan Robertson said the drink is proving popular with guests and gets quite a reaction when ordered from the bar.

He said: “It tastes like iron at first and is a bit meaty, but there is lots of other stuff in it too, lots of rums.

“At the end it tastes like nothing, there is only a first sort of strong taste.”

The bar, which opened two weeks ago, also has a seafood-style cocktail featuring boiled baby octopus tentacles and a salty squid ink drink.

Mr Robertson said the bar has received some complaints via its website as the promotion video features dead animals. But the bar has responded by claiming “Blood is chic”.
