Police appeal following death of 21-year-old in east London car crash

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses following a car crash which killed a 21-year-old in east London.

The car collided with a sign post outside the Zaga Supermarket in Woodford Road, Newham, at 2am on April 20.

Car passenger, Andreas Elias, of South Woodford, was pronounced dead at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as head injuries.

Next of kin have been informed and an inquest has been schedules at Walthamstow Coroners Court.

Dozens of cards and flowers have been left outside the shop in tribute to Mr Elias.

A 24-year-old woman, who was driving the black Ford Fiesta, was taken to an east London hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Another passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to hospital suffering with minor injuries and has been discharged.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage are investigating.
