The Queen and Prince William were applauded as they arrived at the scene near the Grenfell Tower tragedy today.

The warm response was in stark contrast to the criticism and reaction to some politicians who have visited the site.

Prime Minister Theresa May, who was today meeting victims being treated in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital privately away from the cameras, was criticised for not speaking to residents when she visited.

Yesterday the Queen paid tribute to the ”bravery” of firefighters who battled the fire and praised the ”incredible generosity” of volunteers offering their support.

She also chatted to the heroes of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. She met firefighters and police offices who worked around the clock i the aftermath of the fire.

The Queen and William spent 45 minutes greeting people before leaving.

Later, Theresa May visited survivors at Kensinton and Chelsea hospital.

She was led around by staff and spent around an hour at the hospital speaking to survivors

She was criticised yesterday after she came to visit the scene of the blaze but did not come and meet with anyone affected by it.
