An explosion has blown the roof off a house in south London this morning.

Windows were strewn across the street after the unexplained blast in Brixton, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 11.05 this morning, with 20 firefighters battling to get the blaze under control.

Residents were evacuated from the High Trees and Abbots Park area while the cause of the explosion is investigated.

An LFB spokesman said: "We were called to a house fire and it appears there was also an explosion there as well, which has blown the roof off and also smashed a few windows.

"One was blown across the street," he added.

There were no reports of any injuries.
