A fancy dress seller to the stars is being sued for more than £300,000 by a company director who claims he shattered his leg when he fell down its unguarded stairway.
Gary Page-Curley, 45, from Clapham, is suing Melanie Wilson, the owner of Prangsta, for negligence.
The costume boutique has provided outfits for celebrities including Prince Harry, Kate Moss and Katy Perry.
In legal papers filed with the High Court, Mr Page-Curley, who owns Sotto Construction Ltd, says he tumbled into the New Cross shop’s cellar, fracturing a bone in his right leg, in October last year.
The writ states he has needed three rounds of surgery, is in “constant pain” and can no longer walk properly.
According to the claim there was no adequate barrier or warning.
Mr Page-Curley is now seeking damages for his injuries.
The writ states: “The claimant has suffered low mood and anxiety following the injury.
“The claimant has suffered a disadvantage on the open labour market as a result of his injuries.”
At his home, Mr Page-Curley’s girlfriend said: “It has been a nightmare year. He’s not happy he’s having to take legal action but he has had to.”
Staff at Prangsta, a bespoke costumier which specialises in handmade costumes, declined to comment. Ms Wilson, who set up the store after completing a fashion design degree at Central St Martins, was unavailable for comment.
According to its website, the store has dressed stars on numerous occasions, providing costumes for the wedding of Sir Richard Branson’s son, Sam, to actress Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe last year.
Isabella’s half-sister Cressida Bonas was at the wedding with then boyfriend Prince Harry, and both wore outfits by Prangsta.
Katy Perry wore one in the video for her 2013 hit Unconditionally, while Kate Moss was dressed as a vintage showgirl for an Esquire shoot.
Model and actress Suki Waterhouse wore a Prangsta Alice in Wonderland outfit for AnOther magazine’s “Through the Looking Glass” 25th issue party.
