A teenage cyclist has denied killing a pedestrian “by wanton or furious driving”.

Charlie Alliston, 19, is accused of hitting Kim Briggs, a mother-of-two, while she was on her lunch break in Old Street, east London, on February 12.

The 44-year-old HR consultant died in hospital six days later.

Alliston of Bermondsey, south London, entered a not guilty plea at the Old Bailey speaking only to confirm his name and enter his plea.

The charge states that on February 12 2016 “having charge of a black ‘Planet X’ carbon fibre fixed rear wheel pedal cycle, by wanton or furious driving, caused bodily harm to Kim Briggs”.

Judge Paul Worsley set a trial date of January 9 next year.

Following her death, Mrs Brigg’s husband Matthew, described her as a “wonderful and much loved woman.”
