The all-singing, all-dancing Evening Standard

The Evening Standard is moving from the page to the stage in a new show where the stories of the day are brought to life through music.

Evening Standard! The Musical is an all-singing, all-dancing, interactive production by the Maydays theatre company.

Heather Urquhart, Maydays director, said each two-act show will be different as the audience will choose what they want to see from the stories in that evening’s edition of the Standard.

Ms Urquhart said: “The actors don’t know what stories they’re going to be asked to perform until they walk out on stage. It’s completely made-up on the spot.

“The sillier News in Brief-type stories are often ripe for comedy. We once picked up a story about a robber who stole two packets of bacon, a spanner and a bottle of wine. We had a lot of fun imagining why he would have stolen such a bizarre selection of items.”

The show opens at The Horse pub theatre in Waterloo on April 5 and is set to run for three weeks.
