Tributes were paid today to a close friend of the sons of Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood after his death from a suspected drug and alcohol overdose.

The body of Ben Thomas, 29, a former flatmate of James Jagger and Tyrone Wood was found at his home in Acton on Friday. He lived with James, 26, in Kentish Town until last month.

Residents in the block of flats where Mr Thomas — nicknamed Rudeboy — lived with two other men spoke of their shock at his death.

They said he was with a group of six or seven men seen laughing and joking as they returned to the house late on Thursday night. One resident said: “He was really quiet, he didn’t look like a troublemaker.”

Another neighbour said: “He was a partying guy but a very nice gentleman.” DJ and actress Chelsea Leyland posted a picture of herself with Mr Thomas.

She wrote: “You will always be one of my best friends.” Last month Mr Thomas was among a group including Tyrone Wood, 29, who travelled to Thailand for a holiday.

Tyrone’s mother Jo Wood said: “It’s very sad. I am sure he is going to be missed by all his friends.” A police spokesman said the death was being treated as “unexplained”.
