A café in central London has apologised after it displayed a board offering no service to RMT members.

Grill Market, in Theobalds Road, Holburn, sparked outrage from supporters of the strike after it produced the board this morning as the 48 hour strike rumbled on.

The sign read: “No RMT members. 10 per cent off coffee for everyone else.”

Shortly after it went up social media users lambasted the notice while others said they would boycott the coffee shop.

The apology said: “The management of Grill Market would like to issue an apology for the misguided post made this morning and for the offence it caused

“Again, total apology to anyone offended by the board this morning, was only supposed to be a joke, clearly I got it very wrong.”

But other Twitter users have said people are taking the sign too seriously and should have a sense of humour.

Samuel Morgan said: “I thought it was funny, people need to chill out #takeagrillpill.”
