Veep peep: behind the scenes of the new series

The cast of the US political satire Veep descended on Portland Place yesterday as they filmed scenes in the capital - with White House aide Jonah, played by Timothy Simons, jumping a taxi queue.

The episode, which is part of series 3, airing next year, sees Vice President Selina Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, come to London for First World War commemorations.

She is disappointed to be paired with the Deputy Prime Minister and not to meet the Queen.

Seizing the chance for a photo opportunity at a London pub, she accidentally invents a greeting while downing a pint. The publicity debacle gets her on to the front of the London Evening Standard.

The penultimate episode of the second series of Veep, created by Armando Iannucci, airs on Sky Atlantic on Wednesday night.
