An emotional reunion between Poppy Girl Megan Adams and her Royal Navy officer father has gone viral online.

Megan and her father, Lt-Cdr Billy Adams, were among hundreds to mark Armistice Day in Trafalgar Square today, after their heartwarming reunion was captured on video.

The singer, 10, had told the Royal Albert Hall audience at a concert on Saturday evening that she was disappointed her father couldn't be there to see her performance with the Poppy Girls group, as he was posted with the Navy in the Seychelles.

But host Huw Edwards, best known for presenting BBC News, ensured she got the surprise of a lifetime as Lt-Cdr Adams walked down the stairs to greet her on stage.

The footage, which has been viewed by thousands online, shows Megan burst into tears and run towards him, shouting 'Daddy!'

Touched members of the audience, including Nick Clegg and his wife Miriam, rose to their feet to applaud the moment, which followed the group's performance of 'The Call - No Need to Say Goodbye'.
