Horror as woman and two dogs killed in hit-and-run in Chigwell

Police have issued an urgent appeal after a woman and two dogs were killed in a hit-and-run collision in Chigwell.

Officers were called at 5.09pm on Friday to reports of a fatal incident on Manford Way.

A car, believed to be a white Seat Leon, is thought to have struck a pedestrian who was walking with two dogs.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, a 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two dogs were also killed in the collision.

The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene, and the Seat Leon was located nearby shortly after. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the registered keeper of the vehicle.

There has been no arrest at this stage.
