A pensioner has been killed in a horror collision with a skip truck outside an east London train station.

The victim, in her 70s, was struck by the driver of a lorry in Forest Gate at 10.20am on Wednesday, police said.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

Witnesses said that police could be seen talking to the driver in his cab. Another added the Forest Gate crossing had been changed in recent years.

A Met spokesman said: “Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of emergency service, the pedestrian, a woman thought to be aged in her 70s, died at the scene.

“We are in the process of informing her next of kin.

“The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.”

It came an hour before a man was killed in a separate road collision on the A13 Westbound in East Ham at 11.20am.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:“We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART) to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man died at the scene.”

Enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses to the Forest Gate collision are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 2106/26Oct.
