A worker who was trapped under a lorry on the former BBC Television Centre site has died in hospital.

The traffic marshall, who has not been named and was believed to be in his 30s, was involved in an accident with a refuse truck on the Wood Lane site in White City.

Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance were sent to the scene on February 22 at 8.30am where they managed to free the man from underneath the back axel of the lorry.

The man, who worked for a contractor, was taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Mary's Hospital with serious injuries, but died later that day.

A spokesman for site developer Stanhope said: “The person was taken to hospital but sadly passed away and our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.”

The Health and Safety Executive is undertaking an investigation into the incident.

Television Centre is currently being developed into luxury homes, offices and new TV studios as part of a major redevelopment by Stanhope and the BBC.
