Could Peter York be about to save Pippa Middleton’s blushes? The style guru has decided to mass-purchase her much-mocked book Celebrate as a Christmas present for his friends and turn it into a cult hit.

York, who was at the Aldeburgh Documentary Festival this weekend alongside actor Bill Nighy, said he had spotted Celebrate’s niche in the market — as a naff present — which may help its poor sales figures (this morning Celebrate floated down to 358 on the Amazon bestseller list).

“I’m going to buy 20 copies and give them away,” he told me. “There’s one friend of mine, a real foodie, whose face I can’t wait to see as she unwraps it and wonders why I’ve given it to her.”

Come on, Pippa, you can do it.
