Cultural exchanges at the Beeb and C4

22 January 2014

Tit-for-tat at Channel 4 and Newsnight. Last year Paul Mason defected from the BBC show to join C4 News as its culture editor. So who replaces him? It will be Katie Razzall, who covers culture among other things for Channel 4.

Razzall, who once went out with Homeland actor Damian Lewis, is one of a raft of new signings since Ian Katz took over Newsnight, including Chris Cook of the Financial Times and ITV’s Laura Kuenssberg. “I have lived and breathed Channel 4 News for 14 years,” Razzall says. “I’m looking forward to a wide-ranging brief in one of the best newsrooms in the country.”

Razzall will have the title Special Correspondent but will have culture as part of her beat. She does at least have family allegiances to the show: her father Baron Razzall’s partner is Baroness Bonham Carter, a former producer on Newsnight and Panorama.
