It was award one-upmanship at Lindley Hall last night, with Twiggy and Robert Lindsay both attending a special performance by the Rambert Ballet at Lindley Hall in Westminster, to raise funds for the dance company’s new Waterloo home.

What was Lindsay doing there? “My first girlfriend was a Rambert dancer,” the actor said, before reminiscing about winning a Fred Astaire award for his Broadway show Me and My Girl in 1987 and a Tony award.

“Did you ever win a Tony?,” he asked Twiggy. “No, “ she replied. “but I won two Golden Globes for The One and Only.”

Also there were actor Simon Callow and Ambassadors Theatre Group boss Sir Howard Panter.

A pair of ballet shoes worn by Audrey Hepburn when she was trained by Madame Rambert raised more than £5,000, and the evening around £40,000.
