Hugh Bonneville's student hovel was no Downton Abbey

Hugh Bonneville reveals that his acting career was almost cut short by asphyxiation. The Downton Abbey actor returned to his Cambridge college digs (Room 108, New Court, Corpus Christi) to revisit his student years.

“It was blooming cold in the winter, so I’d snuggle the bed against the gas fire,” Bonneville tells Cam alumni magazine. “I was getting blinding headaches until someone pointed out that I was inhaling the gas!”
