Letwin registers his ‘gift’ from property heiress

Tory MP Oliver Letwin has just registered with the parliamentary authorities a £10,000 gift from Ilchester Estates. Although Letwin has not named any individual, this is the property management company owned by heiress Charlotte Townshend. Letwin, who represents West Dorset, says the money will go to his constituency party or association.

Townshend, a keen huntswoman and the daughter of the 9th Viscount Galway, can easily afford to be so generous. She owns 20 acres in Holland Park and 15,000 acres in Dorset and is reputedly worth £375 million.
