Conrad Black, who knows a thing or two about crisis management, paints a rosy image of the Catholic Church.

In an article for the New York Sun, the former Telegraph proprietor hints at future canonisation for the recently departed Pope Benedict XVI: “From this unspectacular man of immense intelligence, it was a spectacular and brilliant end to his papacy.” It’s also good to know that for all his vocal criticism of journalists, there is still one media face Black would have in the house.

Step forward distinguished CNN news anchor Erin Burnett. “There are countless millions like Erin Burnett, who unselfconsciously identifies herself as a Catholic without a hint of the extent or depth of her practice,” explains Black.
