Labour MPs gave the bird to former Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind during Commons tributes to Nelson Mandela yesterday when he dared to suggest white South African leader FW de Klerk deserved credit for giving away power at the end of the apartheid years. But who was that in the House of Lords praising de Klerk for his “courageous agreement to release Mandela unconditionally”? None other than former Labour leader Lord Kinnock.
